Modern Farmhouse Remodel & Detached ADU

This Cheviot Hills project brought together two distinct scopes on a single lot: a full remodel of the original residence and a brand-new detached single-story ADU designed to feel like a natural extension of the main home. Modern farmhouse architecture set the tone, clean board-and-batten siding, warm cedar accents, and a restrained palette that lets the landscape do the talking.

Inside, the home was opened up around a vaulted, light-filled kitchen with a waterfall marble island, custom shaker cabinetry, and pro-grade appliances. Every detail, from the millwork joinery to the metal sash windows to the wide-plank white oak floors, was selected to balance luxury with the relaxed, livable feel a modern farmhouse should have.

An ADU, or Accessory Dwelling Unit, is a fully independent living space built on the same lot as a primary home. Detached single-story ADUs are increasingly popular across Los Angeles for multi-generational living, long-term guests, home offices, or rental income. Because California law now permits ADUs on nearly every residential lot, they've become one of the smartest ways to add functional square footage and long-term value to a property.

Our role on projects like this spans architecture coordination, permitting through LADBS, structural and MEP work, finish carpentry, and final landscape integration, delivered as a single accountable build so the homeowner has one team from first sketch to final walkthrough.
